Hyundai · i30 Sedan / Elantra · CN7 (2021+) - Non-Turbo

Same shell as the i30 N, very different heart

The CN7 sedan shares its body and platform with the 206kW i30 N sedan, but the non-turbo Active and Elite run the 2.0 Smartstream G2.0 MPi - a port-injected, naturally-aspirated economy engine built for fuel figures, not boost. There's no turbo to crank up, so the realistic tuning scope here is small. It's a reliable daily, not a tuning base.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you tune the non-turbo 2.0 for more power?

Honestly, not much. With no turbo and port injection, an ECU tune on the naturally-aspirated 2.0 returns very little - you're realistically looking at a handful of kW, not the big numbers a turbo car gets. We'd rather tell you that up front than sell you a tune that does nothing.

What's the best first mod for this car?

Treat it as a daily and spend on things you'll actually feel: a good set of tyres, brake pads, and suspension if you want sharper handling. A panel filter or cat-back exhaust adds a bit of induction noise and breathing, but don't expect meaningful power.

Does it need a tune to run well?

No. The 2.0 MPi runs happily on 91 RON regular unleaded from factory and doesn't need a tune to be reliable. Keep up the servicing and it'll just keep going.

I want a fast version of this car - what should I look at?

The same CN7 body comes as the 1.6 turbo N Line (150kW/265Nm) and the i30 N sedan (206kW), and those turbo cars are where the real aftermarket support and tuning gains live. If performance is the goal, a turbo variant is the smarter starting point than modifying the NA 2.0.
