SIM2K Bench Cable for EK1
This bench cable is for use when connecting your EK1 device (EK1Mini2 or EK1PRO) directly to the ECU. It is designed to work with the SIM2K-250 and SIM2K-260 ECUs as seen in these cars:
- i30N Hatch (PDeN)
- i30 Sedan N (CN7N)
- Elantra N (CN7N)
- Veloster N (JSN)
- Kona N (OSN)
- Stinger 2.0 and 3.3 (CK)
Why would you want/need to connect directly to your ECU? The primary reason is for the purposes of reading your ECU file, realistically, the only time you need to read your ECU file is if you want to take a backup for yourself, or if your car has a new version of ECU software (from a recall, for example) and we need to update your tune. As a secondary reason, writing directly to the ECU is sometimes a little faster, and generally considered a safer/more reliable way to write ECU files.
The only exception to the above is for BlueLink models, like the facelift Elantra/i30 Sedan or the Facelift2 i30N hatch. These cars will need the bench cable so that we an write the tune, the addition of BlueLink to the ECU has made OBD connection more difficult and currently unsupported by the EK1 tools. If you have a new model with BlueLink, you also need this cable.
